Girls Tennis Falls 6-0 to Socastee in Playoffs

spirit night

Although the final result was 6-0 win for Socastee last night, the matches were very well played and contested by the Lady Knights Tennis Team.

Kyleigh Gregg (playing in her final match as a Stratford Knight) played very well against a strong opponent. Elizabeth Sivertsen went to deciding point on the first 5 games of the match, unfortunately, she fell behind in the first set and had a difficult hill to climb. Celeste Class lost her first set 4-6, came back to take the second in a tiebreaker, but lost a very close 3rd set tiebreaker to drop the set. Aubrey Eudy lost by a break of serve in each set 4-6, 5-7, and the doubles team of Ryan Gourdine(playing her final match as a Knight) and Elisa Lin fell short. The team played very well, with the match lasting 2 hours and 50 minutes.

When asked, Coach Ellis said. “I am very proud of the positive strides this team is taking and we look forward to getting back to work in a few months.”

The Knights finished the season 5th in Region 7-AAAAA, with a 9-9 overall record, going 6-8 in region play.
