Multiple Teams · Stratford Mourns Loss of Former Coach Doug Miller

The Stratford Athletic Family mourns the passing away of one of their beloved former coaches. Doug Miller, 62, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Doug was born March 17, 1952 in Patterson, New Jersey, son of the late William R. Miller and the late Charlotte Traub Miller. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 39 years, Marian, and cherished daughter Casey. Coach Miller was a teacher and coach for 39 years before retiring in 2013. He knew very early he wanted to be a coach and loved that it allowed him to work with dedicated and talented people in his field. He had an impact on countless students and athletes over the years and enjoyed running into former players and catching up on how they were doing. He genuinely cared about them and they knew it. Coach Miller will be missed by all those who knew him, but his legacy will carry on in the lives that he touched. The MIller family is asking that those wishing to memorialize Coach Miller do so with a memorial donation in Doug’s name to the Special Olympics of South Carolina, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or a charity of your choice.
