Jamison Mobbs threw a no-hitter and the Stratford Knights defeated rival Goose Creek 12-2, Tuesday night in Game 1 of the series.
Mobbs looked sharp in the first, struggled to find his command in the second, and settled in in the third to record his first career no-hitter. In the process he struck out 10 batters, while walking five and hitting one.
Coleman Padgett suffered the loss on the bump for Goose Creek. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out none.
The Knights bats came to life in the sixth inning. With Stratford leading 4-2 the Knights put up eight runs to walk off with the 12-2 victory. Andrew Preston gorunded into a fielder’s choice to score Stephen Bell. An RBI single by Ty’reik Faulks got the scoring started in the sixth, he he another RBI single later in the sixth scoring Eddie Hiott. Mobbs also helped himself out, delivering a 2-RBI Double in the sixth. Leading the way for the Knights at the plate was Mobbs. He went 2-3 with 3 RBI. Also recording a multi-hit game for the Knights were Ty’Reik Faulks (2-3), and Justin Walker (2-3). The Knights return to action in game 2 of the Series Wednesday night at Goose Creek. First Pitch is set for 6 PM.
