Second Straight No-hitter leads Stratford past Goose Creek 12-0
For the second night in a row the Stratford pitching staff and defense held the Gators hitless. Eddie Hiott had command of all of his pitches Wednesday night, throwing a no-hitter in the Knights 12-0 victory over Goose Creek.
Hiott’s stat line was pretty impressive, striking out eight batters and walking two while recording the no hitter. He got Zach Owens to strike out for the final out of the game.
The Stratford bats came to life again, recording 12 hits, including three extra base hits. The Knights scored six runs in the sixth to put the game at its final margin on an RBI single by Ty’reik Faulks, an error, a two-run double by Mikey White, and a two-run single by Justin Walker.
White went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for Stratford Knights Varsity.
Bryce Jonason ended up on the losing side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
The Knights led from start to finish, scoring four runs on an error and two singles in the first inning.
Stratford increased the lead with two runs in the fifth. Courtesy runner Ethan Struthers took home on a throwing error, and JD Davis doubled, plating Andrew Preston.
The Knights look to close out the series with a sweep tomorrow night at 7PM. The series finale is at Goose Creek.
