Knights News · Knights Set Sights on 2019 Season


The Stratford Baseball program takes their first step into the 2019 season tonight, as they take on the visiting JV and Varsity teams from Philip Simmons High School. The Knights preseason scrimmage slate should help prepare the Knights for what is sure to be an exciting, but challenging 2019 campaign. After facing the Iron Horses, the Knights will face off against Berkeley in the Cane Bay Baseball Jamboree. Stratford and Berkeley will play three complete innings, beginning at 2:00 PM. The JV Knights will also take on the Berkeley JV a the same time. The Knights will then get back to practice before taking on Fort Dorchester. They will have back to back scrimmages next Friday and Saturday, traveling to Bishop England and Irmo respectively.

The Knights 2019 Preseason tournament looks to be a good one. Stratford is playing in the inaugural Shipyard/PBR Showdown at Shipyard Park. Stratford will take on Indian Land on Friday, February 22nd at 4:00 PM. They will then play two games on Saturday, with the first beginning at 12:00 PM against Nation Ford. The Knights will turn around and play at 3:00 PM against Byrnes. The Championship and consolation games will be held on Sunday.

Stratord begins their 2019 regular season with three straight home games. The Knights will begin the season with West Ashley on March 6th, followed by Fort Dorchester on March 8th. They begin region play the following Monday against James Island. The region format this year has region games being played on Monday and Wednesday, with non region games on Fridays. The Knights will wrap up their regular season against White Knoll on Saturday, April 13th at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia, before competing in the HIT.
