The Stratford Varsity Boy’s Basketball team lost a close one on Tuesday night, falling to Summerville on the road 48-46. The Knights trailed until the third quarter, when they took a 26-25 lead. Stratford went into the final quarter of the game trailing the Green Wave 36-34. The Knights would battle, taking a 43-40 lead over Summerville, but back to back threes saw the Greenwave take a three point advantage. The Knights would come back, hitting a three of their own to tie the game with under a minute to play. Summerville would make a layup with 20 seconds left in the game. Stratford took a time out with 8.4 seconds left, trialing by two. The backdoor cut was knocked out of bounds by Summerville. The Knights would then be fouled setting up a 1 and 1 still trailing by two. After missing the front end of the 1 and 1 Stratford got the rebound and was fouled with 1.2 seconds left. The first free throw was missed, and Summerville took a time out. A lane violation by Stratford essentially ended the game and the Knights chances for a quality road win.
