The Stratford Baseball team got a strong outing from Sophomore Josh Davis Wednesday night to defeat James Island 3-1. With the win the Knights improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. James Island would jump on the board in the bottom of the first inning, but Davis would respond and not allow another run in the game. The Knights got things going in the top of the second. Davis and Vito Dorio would each reach on errors, followed by a Kevin Mood single to load the bases. Sophomore A.J. Bryant would then single to center scoring Davis and tying the score at one. The threat would end there with the Knights leaving three on. Stratford would get things going again in the fourth. Mood would lead off with a double to the left center gap. Dylan Stewart would then single through the right side scoring Mood and giving Stratford the lead 2-1. The Knights would pick up another run in the top of the fifth inning. Travis Lott led the inning off with a triple down the right field line. He would later score on a Dorio single to give the Knights a 3-1 advantage. Stratford threatened again in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t capitalize.
The Knights return to action Friday at Stall. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
