The Stratford Varsity Boy’s Basketball team traveled to Summerville Thursday night to open up the 2018-2019 season. The Knights defeated the Green Wave 38-37 in a back and forth contest. The game was hard fought, and the Knights took a one point lead to the halftime break. Coming out of the half, Summerville went on a 12-1 run in the third quarter to take a 31-21 lead heading into the final quarter of regulation. Stratford would respond with a fourth quarter run of their own, outpacing the Green Wave 17-6. Sophomore Je’Von Walker led the Knights in the scoring column with 10 points. Sophomore Justin Jordan chipped in seven points, and Junior Telvon Coakley added six points and 10 boards.

Stratford (1-0) returns to action quickly as they are set to take on the Fort Dorchester Patriots Friday night at home. The Friday night action will begin with JV girls at 4:30, followed by JV Boys. The Varsity Girls are slated to tip off at 7:00 with the Varsity Boys wrapping up the action at 8:30 PM.
