This week's Ninja Necklace recipient is Mrs. Jenn Fisher. Running the library is a two-person job, and I would be hard pressed to do it without her. We serve on the SCASL Junior Book Award Committee together. Doing so means Mrs. Fisher spends a great deal of her time outside of school reading middle-grade novels so that she can conduct readers' advisory with students; it is Mrs. Fisher's passion to match students with book they will enjoy. Additionally, Mrs. Fisher assists with collection development which means using her knowledge of books to help build lists of reading materials to purchase for MMSOA. Moreover, Mrs. Fisher helps troubleshoot tech issues for both students and staff, and she is our resident Lightspeed expert. As a ninja, Mrs. Fisher often works behind the scenes to help create a welcoming environment in the library. For those reasons and more, Mrs. Fisher is very deserving of being this week's ninja.

This week's Ninja Necklace recipient is Mrs. Carrie Courtney. Mrs. Courtney is a wonderful librarian. She is so kind, professional, caring, supporting, and welcoming, and with Mrs. Fisher’s help, she has done so much to help our library be one of the best in the district. She has also received some well-deserved recognitions for her hard work too. She is such a great resource for students and teachers with finding books, learning about resource, and allowing the library space to be used for a variety of classes and trainings. She is helpful with so many non-book needs too, as no librarian likely started their career wanting to be in charge of student Chromebooks. Nevertheless, she meets the challenge and does a great job with providing support in this area and with the technology needs of our school as well. Finally, each school year she does a wonderful job hosting our Scholastic Book Fairs.

This week's Ninja Necklace recipient is Dr. Joey Beeson. Dr. Beeson is an insightful professional colleague. He is deeply passionate about Social Studies and deeply passionate about his students' depth of knowledge on the subject. He incorporates innovative learning techniques, like the use of green screens for European travel guide videos, book publications to show student learning of Asia, and so much more. He has high expectations for his students and holds them to high standards because he believes in them and cares for not only their academic development but their character development, as well. He is a thorough and efficient 7th grade team lead and contributing asset to MMSOA's School Improvement Council. Dr. Beeson leads by example in demonstrating the trademarks of a Monarch; he is kind, has integrity, and perseveres.

For the upcoming school year, all BCSD schools will use Rooms as their direct communication tools for parents, teachers, athletic coaches, club advisors, etc. Because Rooms is located in the Berkeley County School District mobile app, this streamlines communication and minimizes the number of apps parents and guardians need for communication. If you haven't already, download the BCSD app today and turn on notifications so you never miss a message.
