The Varsity Baseball team begin the 2024 playoff run with an 8-5 victory over Carolina Forest in the opening round of the District 7 playoff bracket. With the win, the Knights will travel to Summerville for game 2 in the winner's bracket. First pitch in Summerville is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
Jarrett Wagner got the start on the mound for the Knights and the Sophomore returned to form. He went 5 2/3 surrendering three earned runs while striking out eight. Senior David Sanders came on in the seventh to earn the save.
At the plate the Knights were led by Sophomore Jachin Davis and Senior Gavin Garcia. Davis went 4-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI, while Garcia was 3-4 with four RBI. Also collecting hits for Stratford were Brayden Burnett, Bryce Herpolsheimer, Kaiden Skinner, Walt Argrett, and Reece Scarbrough.
With a win Thursday, the Knights would advance to the District Championship next Monday and would have to only win once to advance. A loss and the Knights will play Saturday needing to win to advance to the District Championship.
